Northern youth to mobilize for hunger protest ,if Fayose remains defiant

The Arewa Youth Assembly has called on all Northerners to come out and join a hunger protest if Fayose fails to apologize for his derogatory comments about the people of Northern Nigeria.

Fayose had said in an interview on a Channels Television program on Monday night that the reason why it is difficult for Tinubu to develop Nigeria is because Northerners are giving birth to children they can’t cater for.

He noted that the population explosion in the Northern region was the reason President Bola Tinubu had not been able to develop the country.

Reacting to the development on Wednesday in a statement sent to Peoples Daily, the speaker of the Assembly, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, said for the record, after Allah, they can say without any doubt that they were instrumental to the emergence of Tinubu as the APC Presidential candidate and his victory in the Presidential election.

Danlami said when the EndSARS protesters protested in the south against former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, no notable Northerner made such a useless comment; instead, they refused to join the protest, which is what they expect the southerners to do to protect their own son.

According to him, nobody can deny the fact that things are not going well in Nigeria. There is total hardship, a rise in inflation rate, insecurity at its peak, nepotism, ethnic clashes, corruption, incompetence, among many others, which are the hallmarks of the present-day government.

He noted that their leaders (political, religious, and traditional) have come out to plead with the people not to join the protest for peace to reign and for the betterment of the country.

“We are telling people that it’s too early to judge the Tinubu renewed Hope government and I can assure you that the damage this protest can do in the south will be more disastrous than in the North if it goes on,” he said.

“With the statement from former Governor Fayose, we are really disappointed, heartbroken, and from the authority with which he made that statement, it means there is a conspiracy against the North and we will not accept anyone insulting or disrespecting our people.

“Since protesting is our Constitutional right, I am calling on all Northerners to come out and join the protest in all 19 Northern states and the FCT Abuja starting tomorrow, unless former Governor Fayose apologizes to our people.”
