NPA Boss Dantsoho is Man of the Year, as Defence Chief, James Umeh, 20 others get Magazine Award

Abuja is set to host a prestigious gathering of national and African leaders, innovators, and changemakers as ‘The Reporters Nigeria’ Magazine celebrates its 7th Anniversary with an award night, book launch, and the unveiling of its new logo.

The high-profile event promises to spotlight outstanding contributions across governance, security, energy, and more.

Scheduled to take place in the heart of the capital, the awards will honor over 20 distinguished individuals and organizations shaping Nigeria and Africa’s socio-economic landscape.

The Man of the Year will be Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of Nigeria Ports Authority[NPA] along with Governor Umara Zullum of Borno State as Governor of the Year.

Other notable recipients include His Excellency Malam Umar Namadi, Governor of Jigawa State, as yet another Governor of the Year, and NNPC Limited, recognized as African Energy Company of the Year.

The awards highlight achievers like Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), as Public Servant of the Year, and Barr. Nyesom Wike, FCT Minister, named Minister of the Year.

In the security sector, Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, and NSA Nuhu Ribadun will be celebrated for their efforts in safeguarding the nation.

Corporate excellence will also be celebrated, with Matrix Energy receiving Nigerian Energy Company of the Year and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) winning African Central Bank of the Year. Philanthropic efforts will be recognized with awards going to Abdul-Samad Rabiu, Chairman of BUA Group, and Chief James Umeh, both celebrated as Philanthropists of the Year.

Other honorees include Air Peace Chairman Dr. Allen Onyema as Investor of the Year, Senator Shehu Sani as Activist of the Year, and Alhaji Abubakar Usman Abubakar, Emir of Gombe, as Monarch of the Year. Rising talents will also be acknowledged, with Iliyasu Kyari named Young Entrepreneur of the Year and Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigeria Maritime Authority, honored for his contributions.
