The Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has been described as passionate and innovative in his drive to stem the incidence of fake drugs and unwholesome food substances in Nigeria since he assumed the helm at the agency.
According to a press statement issued by the Director, Special Duties, Abubakar Jimoh, the DG received the commendations from fellow heads of government agencies, comprising the Director-General of NTA, Mr. Sola Omole, Director-General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Johnson Olawumi and the Chairman of SURE-P, Gen (Rtd.) Martin Luther Agwai while on courtesy visit to the agencies to strengthen existing collaboration and explore new ways of partnership with NAFDAC.
The NTA DG said Orhii’s drive and passion has brought credit to NAFDAC and a lot of benefits to Nigeria, adding that NTA will continue to do its best to project the activities of the agency.
He said no amount of support rendered to NAFDAC will be too much as the job the agency is doing to keep Nigeria healthy and alive is critically important.
The NYSC DG on his part said Nigeria has benefitted from Orhii’s efforts to fight counterfeit drugs, adding that the NYSC will continue to open its doors and do more in partnership with NAFDAC, to stem the incidence of fake drugs and unwholesome food substances.
In his responses, the NAFDAC DG expressed his gratitude for the goodwill the agency has been receiving from Nigerians and the cooperation of other agencies as it works towards discharging its mandate of safeguarding the health of Nigerians.
Orhii used the opportunity of his visit to pledge the support of NAFDAC in addressing unemployment among Nigerian youths, through the NYSC scheme and SURE-P program.
