A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dan Ulasi, has said ongoing political engagements between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso could significantly reshape Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
Speaking on The Morning Show, a programme on Arise Television, monitored in Abuja, Ulasi described the emerging alignment as part of broader efforts to foster national unity and build cross-regional consensus.
He noted that both Obi and Kwankwaso wield considerable political influence in the South and North respectively, making any potential collaboration between them a formidable force in national politics.
According to Ulasi, such a partnership aligns with ongoing moves to bridge regional divides and strengthen opposition coordination, particularly as political actors explore alliances capable of challenging existing power structures.
The PDP chieftain also referenced Nigeria’s informal power rotation principle, suggesting expectations in some quarters that the presidency should remain in the South following the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Ulasi expressed optimism that a successful alliance between the two political figures could usher in a new phase of development and progress in the country, while cautioning that political outcomes ultimately remain uncertain.
He further stated that current political dynamics appear to favour Obi, whom he claimed stands a strong chance of emerging victorious in a future presidential contest.
