The founding Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum (PDPGF) and former Director General of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Earl Osaro Onaiwu, has announced his decision to quit partisan politics.
In a statement released on Sunday, Onaiwu said his desire to focus on nation building and community development is the reason behind his decision.
Onaiwu, who also served as the coordinator of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), further stated that he wants to spend more time with his family and concentrate on his business interests.
“I have decided to quit partisan politics to focus on nation building and community development, I want to make a positive impact on my community and contribute to the development of our great nation. I believe that this is the best decision for me and my family at this material time.”
Onaiwu’s decision to quit partisan politics is seen as a significant development in Nigerian politics because he was a prominent stakeholder in the PDP and his exit is expected to leave a huge void in the opposition party.
A prominent political consultant, Onaiwu has worked with numerous governors and presidents, which earned him the enviable nickname; “King of Networking” for his exceptional ability to build and maintain relationships across political divides. His expertise and influence have been invaluable to many political leaders and parties over the years.
Recently, Onaiwu was appointed as the President of the Bini Awareness Group, a non-political and non-religious organization dedicated to promoting and preserving the Bini culture, heritage, and interests worldwide.
He further posited that this new role would equally enable him to continue serving the nation and making a positive impact on his community on a different scale devoid of partisan politics.
