A senatorial candidate for the Imo East Senatorial District, Chief Osita Opara has vowed to use his position if elected to attract meaningful development to the zone.
Opara who spoke to newsmen shortly after picking his expression of interest and nomination forms for the All Progressives Congress (APC), said over time, there has been leadership void in the zone which prompted him to present himself.
The former Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area promised to use his wealth of experience to ensure that social amenities like electricity, pipe borne water and enhanced security for the zone.
The business developer also promised to focus on youth and women empowerment, adding that for any society to grow, it must pay special attention to the development of youths whom he described as future leaders of the country.
“With my leadership philosophy rooted in accessibility, accountability, and equity, I have variously championed policies and programmes that addressed both immediate community needs and long-term developmental challenges. As a Local Government Chairman, my administration prioritized the welfare of youths, women, and vulnerable groups, while ensuring that traditional institutions and community leaders remained active partners in governance.
“Therefore, if given the opportunity, I promise to continue in that trajectory because that is all I have been doing whether in or out of political office”.
On his rating of the administration of the governor of Imo state, Sen. Hope Uzodimma, the aspirant said he is impressed with the developmental strides Imo has made in the past couple of years, adding that peace is gradually returning to the state.
“The governor is doing his best to reposition Imo state from what he inherited and I must say that the benefits are beginning to manifest. For instance, in the area of security, the entire state is now enjoying a peaceful atmosphere and it’s our hope that it will continue”.
Opara also expressed confidence that the APC will not only win the Imo East Senatorial seat, but also other elective positions including the presidential election.
