The headquarters of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security task force that operates within Plateau State and some parts of Bauchi and Kaduna axes has Tuesday evening, arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist.
The Commander of the Operation, Maj. Gen Augustine Agundu, said the suspect was arrested loitering around Zawurna village of Bassa LGA of Plateau State.
The Commander revealed this while parading 25 other suspected criminals who were alleged to have committed variants forms of criminal vices.
Gen Agundu, who cited the suspect as Umar Musa Tello, said preliminary investigation had shown that the suspect fled from Damagun village in Yobe State due to counter insurgency operations by troops of Operation Lafiya Dole which has yielded loudable results.
He said the suspect has confessed that he was a fighter with Boko Haram group for over three years but decided to leave, citing the suspect as saying “I had denounced the group”.
The suspect, observed to be somewhat uncanny, said in his response to the accusation “I am not a Boko Haram member. I don’t know. I don’t know.”
