Benue State Governor has urged health workers in the State to remain patient, assuring that he will offset the nine months salary arrears owed them.
Governor Samuel Ortom who made the appeal yesterday at the commissioning of Primary Health Care Board in Makurdi, Benue State capital said he made a passionate appeal to the President during his visit to him after the attempted assassination on his life to release funds to the State like he did to his Kogi State counterpart to enable him offset salary arrears.
“When I met the President I tabulated everything and asked him to release money to me to enable me pay your nine months salary arrears”, Ortom said.
He also, intimated that the State has met the requirements by establishing the Primary Health Care Board office to access the Basic Universal Health Provision Funds which would soon be rolled out.
He further assured that his government will continue to give optimal attention to health care delivery services.
Earlier, the Executive Director National Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Faisal Shauib represented decried the inadequacy of personnel, lamenting at the use of hired and retired workers during immunization.
He also, noted the lack of accountability,requesting the State government to as a matter of urgency,engage 4,000 workers as well as provide a functional Hilux van for the board
