The Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) mission has said that no fewer than 1,260,000 Kano residents have benefitted with its funded programme, Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development project (KSADP).
Leader of the Lives and Livelihood Fund mission, Adil Sharif made this known during a pivotal 3-day visit to Kano as part of the KSADP, LLF-backed US$95 million initiative.
Sharif explained that “the visit is to assess the level of the LLF-funded project implementation and to interact with beneficiaries of the project”.
He said KSADP is now in its third year of implementation, has been instrumental in transforming the lives of thousands of beneficiaries through a series of impactful initiatives.
“With a core mission to alleviate poverty by 30 percent and strengthen food and nutrition security, KSADP aims to achieve a significant 50 percent reduction in the number of individuals affected by chronic food shortages.
“This ambitious endeavor directly impacts an impressive 1, 260, 000 beneficiaries across Kano state, focusing on sustainable development of selected livestock and crop value chains,” he added
Sharif further explained that the project’s scope extends to smallholder farmers actively engaged in chosen agricultural value chains, as well as other key stakeholders as input suppliers, service providers, processors, marketers, and traders.
“By fostering collaboration and driving innovation within the agricultural sector, KSADP is making substantial strides towards fostering economic development and resilience within Kano state,” he added.
A distinguished delegation representing the Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF) convened with key stakeholders in Kano, including the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud, today (Monday).
The delegation, comprised of representatives from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), and the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) is embarking on a pivotal 3-day visit to Kano as part of the LLF-backed US$95 million initiative, known as the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development project (KSADP).
The visit started with a meeting the executing agencies and implementing partners Sasakawa Africa Association, SAA, ICRISAT, KNARDA and International, Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA.
