From David Hassan, Gombe

Gombe state governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has order the immediate salary increment of N10, 000 for civil servants, as part of palliatives to cushion the effect of the prevailing economic hardship in the society.
It was disclosed that the salary increment announced by the government will benefit both the state and local government workers.
Deputy governor Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau stated this on Friday, while briefing Journalists in Gombe.
He said the increment will take effect from August and that it has no time frame for now.
“We have noted sympathy from difficulties civil servants are passing through as the result of the economic meltdown, and therefore decided to intervent by paying N10,000 each on monthly basis effective from the month of August, which according to him, will include workers in the state and local government payrolls.
He mandated all local government councils to key into the GOHEALTH programme inorder to ease health challenges as well as mitigating the hardship among their staff.
“Let me assure the workers in the state that our administration is committed to their welfare and ready to provide a conducive atmosphere for them”, he said.
He adds: “I urge workers to reciprocate this gesture by adhering to the rules and regulations of government programmes.
He also called on residents of the state who are yet to benefit from the palliatives, to be patient as government shall continue to consider and bring more intervention in the future.
