The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the ongoing violence in Nigeria, highlighting that less than 24 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu promised in Jos, Plateau State on April 2, 2026, that “this experience will not repeat itself,” multiple attacks have claimed dozens of lives.
Obi noted that since the President’s assurance, Nasarawa State, Zamfara State, Borno State, Benue State, and Kaduna State have all experienced deadly attacks, including mass killings, kidnappings, and the destruction of homes.
He described the situation as a failure of leadership and responsibility, warning that Nigeria is facing a national emergency as innocent citizens continue to be targeted while the government struggles to protect lives and communities.
