Plateau indigenes in Diaspora throw support behind Sen. Pwajok

Date:

By Ali Abare Abubakar

Sen. Gyang Pwajok’s quest to become governor of Plateau State received a boost following his endorsement by the Association of Plateau Indigenes in Diaspora (PIDA) who are also mobilizing support for the actualization of his dream by pulling resources together to transport their kinsmen home to cast their votes in the scheduled February, 28 polls.

Mr. Golu Moses, PIDA national president, disclosed this in Lafia after the national executive meeting of the body, stressing that their position was arrived at after wide consultations devoid of primordial sentiments to zoning, religion, ethnicity or partisanship.

“Our quest in arriving at this decision to throw our weight behind Sen. Pwajok was informed by our collective dream for greater Plateau State where peace, development and collective prosperity would thrive for the common good” he said.

Mr. Golu also noted that there is the need for generational change in the leadership structure of the state to allow for the emergence of young and vibrant leaders even as he urged the indigenes of the state to eschew any persuasions on ethnic grounds saying it is inimical to progress and must be resisted.

The national secretary of the association, Gambo Wutek, resident in Lagos, said drumming up ethnic sentiments is the last thing Plateau State needs now when it is at a cross road between continuity and change.

He said given Sen. Pwajok’s track record as an academic who rose through to becoming a senator of the federal republic, he has what it takes to take Plateau to the next level of development.

“Sen. Pwajok is one who has learnt a lot from Governor David Jang, who more than any other has taken Plateau State to a new pedestal, and it is our belief that he would carry on with his (Jang’s) good works”.
