APC guber aspirant defects to PDP in Sokoto

Date:

From Raji Bello, Sokoto

One of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants who lost out during the last primary election of the party in Sokoto State, Alhaji Yusha’u Ahmed Muhammad Kebbe has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Kebbe alongside three other aspirants, contested the APC governorship primaries with the Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Waziri Tambuwal where he scored 13 votes.

Before now, Kebbe was the gubernatorial candidate of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the last governorship election in the state.

Speaking on why he defected in an interview with Peoples Daily in Sokoto yesterday, he noted that there were many things he did not like in the APC, which prompted his decision.

According to him, “I am in politics because of my people and not on selfish reasons. When they left the PDP and met us in the APC, I followed them to see how they will move. After some time, I observed that if we continued the way they were moving, we would be left behind,” Kebbe explained.

He however alleged that many things were happening in the APC that did not encourage his further membership of the party.

According to Kebbe, “There are many things I feel do not sit down well with me. I therefore felt that I should come back home, meet my people and move the state forward.”
