The Adamawa state Police Command has arrested a Yola based Motor Spare parts trader , Uchena Onoura ,31 years old for alleged conspiracy and attempted kidnapping of his business partner.
Image Maker of the Command,DSP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed the development in Yola Wednesday while fielding questions from Journalists stressing that a Good Samaritan (name withheld) approached the police and reported that his friend (Uchena) has engaged him for a kidnapping operation.
Nguroje said the tracking Unit of the Criminal Investigation Bureau,CIB.in the Command guided the Good Samaritan under tip off cover where he continued to negotiate with the suspect over the hatchet job for ransom.
Nguroje assured that the culprit will be charged to court for prosecution immediately after investigation urging the public to be wary of the company they keep both in business and private lives.
Answering questions from Reporters,the suspect (Uchena) confessed that he personally hatched the idea and invited his friend to execute the kidnapping plot of his business partner (Chukwuma Maduake) for ransom.
Uchena said that he bargained with the Good Samaritan and settled at N50.000.00k as take off grant for the deal, maintaining that he dropped N17.000.00k remaining a balance of N33.000.00k after the operation.
He stated that they planned for his friend to kidnap their proposed victim and to blindfold his entire face and hide him in his supposed waiting vehicle in its booth then allow him (Uchena) to take him away.
He regrettably announced that a loan of N1.5Million on his head pushed him to plan the kidnapping plot to raise N3Million -N5Million to pay back and add to his business.
Responding on the unfortunate issue, the supposed victim,Chukwuma Maduake,59 Years old applauded the timely intervention of the police, contemplating that the story should have been different now .
Maduake said on Christmas Day (25/12/2021),the Police invited him and told him of the foiled plot to kidnap him by Uchena for monetary consideration (ransom).
Maduake in his words “I am still in shock to know the devilish intention of my business neighbour in which I thank the timely intervention of the Police as I urge parents and guardians to train their wards uprightly by keeping eyes on the company they move with”.
