A 29-year old woman, Love Ogar, from Cross River state, was yesterday arrested by the men of Kaduna Police Command for stealing three children from Hotoro village, in Kano state and was in transit to Onitsha, Anambra state.

Parading the suspect at the Police Headquarters, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Aminu Lawan said, the Police received a distressed call from leaders of Nigeria Union of Road Transports Workers (NURTW), Kawo motor park branch, that a driver who brought a woman with three children from Kano to Kaduna said during the journey that he suspected there was a strange relationship between the woman, who claimed to be the mother of the children and the way the children were reacting to her, despite the claim that she is their biological mother.

Lawan added that the woman could not give satisfactory answer to questions put to her by the union leaders, hence they called the Police and after interrogation, she confessed that she stole the children from Kano and was taking them to Abuja.

Speaking to our correspondent, the suspect, Love Ogar, said her friend, one Tina, based in Abuja contracted her to bring any good looking almajira for her and she would pay the sum of N350,000 for each child.

“When I got to Hotoro, I was sitting inside a Keke Napep and gave each of them a sweet and thereafter called them to follow me inside the Keke Napep, which they did and we went to Sabon Gari motor park, where I boarded an available bus going toOnitsha with the children, with the intention to stop in Abuja.

“My friend, Tina, has been worried, because she has been married for about seven years without children and that is why she asked me to get any almajira for her. This is my first involvement in this and she has not even paid me any money, but promised to pay when I deliver the children,” she said.

“I am grateful to the Police, the driver of the vehicle and members of the union, for their vigilance; because I don’t know from where to start from if all the children had got permanently missing.
