A 47 years old man, Mr Wilson Iriajien is in police net in connection with unlawful possession of a double barrel gun which he reportedly inherited from his late father.
The suspect who claimed to be an international businessman, was arrested by police operatives from the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 5 headquarters in Benin.
AIG zone 5 Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emeka Iheanacho paraded the 47-year-old man alongside a suspected cultist on behalf of the zonal AIG, Mr. Rasheed Akintude.
In an interview, Iriajien, told journalists that he inherited the double barrel gun from his late father who died in 2004 even as he added that he bought the pump action guns for self-protection.
The suspect also confessed to be a member of the “Eiye Confraternity” while he was a student of the Ambrose Alli University in, 1992 though he claimed to have renounced his memberships of the cult group.
He said among items recovered from the suspect are one double barrel gun with No. MBDT 5870, English pump action guns No. T587013- 0216 and No. P630882.
Others include Apple laptop, three international passports and wrapped substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
He, however, stated that investigation into the matter was ongoing, saying that the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigation was concluded.
