Rotary/Rotaract Clubs in Kaduna have sensitized a community in the state on the need to follow the proper vaccination process to kick out polio in their community.
The campaign tour by the Rotary Clubs and other partners in Kaduna recently was an effort to provide information about the disease and the safety and efficacy of the polio vaccination.
When asked what action parents should take to prevent the spread of polio, Rotarian Adejo said when polio was widespread, communication strategies were often used, which is known as risk communication.
“ Information is key in the eradication of polio, hence the need for proper creation of awareness, and this is the reason why the Rotary Clubs and other partners embarked on this campaign tour to create awareness on why parents must ensure that their children under five are duly vaccinated”.
The theme of the campaign, which was: “A Chance for Reflection and a Reminder to Reach Every Last Child,” was aimed at kicking out polio to zero level.
In their separate remarks, the Polio field coordinator, Kaduna state, Grace Sadiku, and the President of Presidents of all Rotary clubs in Kaduna, Rotarian Adeyemi Adekunle, averred that the best way to protect against polio, or poliomyelitis, is to get vaccinated.
