Protest: Varsity Lecturers in diaspora calls for caution

24 hours before the kick-off of the nationwide protests, a group under the auspices of the Association of Nigeria University Lecturers in Diaspora,United Kingdom has advised that protest should be carried out within the confines of the law.
The President of the Association Akeem A. Ahmed stated this in a statement made available to the media in Kaduna.
The statement said the advice is apt to protect the protesters against any form of intrusion, infiltration, or violation by miscreants, hijackers, hoodlums, or thugs.
The statement added that democracy guarantees freedom of expression and peaceful assembly. “This is equally guaranteed by the UN Charter on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which Nigeria is a signatory.
