Niger state Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago has established Ramadan free food centres across all 25 local government areas to ease the feeding burden, especially on the less privileged.
In a Ramadan message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, the Governor said the month of Ramadan is a special period for spiritual rejuvenation as the Muslims commenced the Ramadan fast on Monday.
He also charged Muslims on the need to get closer to Allah by engaging in activities that would earn them eternal reward.
Bago noted that Ramadan which is one of the pillars of Islam comes with favour, forgiveness, and blessings from Allah to those who participate in it.
The governor called on the Muslims to use the Holy month to be more committed to doing good and turn away from negative attitudes.
