NASFATFrom Femi Oyelola, Kaduna

As the holy month of Ramadan draws near, the Nasrul-Lahi-il-Fathi Society of Nigeria (NASFAT), Kaduna state chapter, has called on Muslims to strive hard and follow the part of Allah, in order to reap the benefits of the fasting period and enjoy Allah’s favour.

The group stated this in a press statement, signed by its Public Relations Officer, Hajiya Zainab Tanimu and made available to journalists in Kaduna yesterday, adding that the holy month of Ramadan is a month that all Allah’s teaching and injunction must be strictly adhered to, as stated in the Quran and Hadith of Prophet Mohammed (SWA).

“It is not enough to keep away from eating and drinking during this period without fulfilling other attributes associated with the month; this includes prayers and remembering the poor during the month and beyond”, she stated.

“Keeping away from food without observing Allah’s teachings is like embarking on hunger strike, which has no reward,” she stressed.

In a remark, the zonal coordinator and chief missioner, Kaduna branch, Alhaji Marooph Raji, added that the Kaduna zone of NASFAT would embark on its traditional feeding of the needy throughout the month of Ramadan.

He, therefore, called on well-meaning Nigerians to support the noble cause, by helping in feeding and clothing the needy during the holy month.

Alhaji Raji also advised Muslim parents to ensure that they bring up their children in the way of Allah, because, according to him, the family is the foundation of every society and all the problems, including insecurity in the country today, was because people, especially Muslims, have diverted from the teaching of Quran and are following their own way.

He said, “Treat your family as a social unit, and spend quality time with them in order to uphold the unity and trust among the family.

Working parents should find time to sit with their children, because it is by so doing that they will have the guts to speak out their mind.

“I want to implore traders not to unnecessarily increase the prices of foodstuff and other essential commodities during the period, so as not to make life more difficult for the people”.
