An Estate Surveyor and Valuer, Chinyelu Egbe said regular property maintenance is very essential and important to help preserve the value and functionality of a property over time.
She said Property maintenance gives the property a long life span through the ongoing upkeep, repairs, and general care of a buildings and a piece of real estate.
ESV. Egbe disclosed this in Abuja yesterday, stating that the property maintenance includes responsibilities such as cleaning, landscaping, repairing damages, ensuring safety standards. Others are maintaining systems like plumbing, heating, and electrical.
She emphasized that acquiring the services of a real professional is key.
She said the services of an estate surveyor and valuer, will assist in the maintenance of a property or building by conducting regular inspections to identify maintenance needs and issues, developing maintenance schedules and plans to ensure the property remains in good condition, procuring and managing contractors for maintenance tasks such as repairs, painting, and landscaping, budgeting for maintenance expenses and ensuring cost-effective solutions, implementing preventative maintenance measures to minimize future issues.
She added that keeping accurate records of maintenance activities and expenditures, advising property owners on necessary upgrades or improvements to enhance the value of the property, responding promptly to maintenance requests from tenants or occupants, ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and regulations, and providing regular reports to property owners on the status of maintenance activities and the condition of the property.
