The Yobe State Executive Council has approved projects and services worth N73.32 billion to accelerate agricultural development, road infrastructure, housing, and economic empowerment across the state.
The approvals were granted during the State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday in Damaturu, chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni.
A major component of the package is N28.53 billion approved for the procurement of agricultural tools and implements under the 2026 Mega Agricultural Empowerment Programme.
The Council also approved N23.98 billion for two road projects: the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of the 45-kilometre Kalallawa–Kaliyari Road and the construction of the 7-kilometre Damagum–Gubana Road.
Additionally, N5.69 billion was approved for external facilities and the augmentation of the perimeter fence at the Damaturu Modern Motor Park, while N4.94 billion was approved for the construction of the Buni-Yadi Modern Motor Park and Grains Market.
The Council further approved N3.95 billion for the construction of a modern shopping mall and mini-market in Buni-Gari.
In the housing sector, N2.25 billion was approved for the purchase of 208 housing units from the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, while N1.18 billion was approved for the construction of the Ministry of Housing headquarters.
As part of its empowerment initiatives, the Council approved N460.83 million for the procurement of beans to be distributed to women-owned businesses, alongside cooking oil, smokeless stoves, and kitchen utensils. It also approved N364.48 million for the procurement of 1,000 grinding machines to support livelihoods across the state.
The Council also approved a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) to redevelop the Yobe State Liaison Office in Kaduna into a modern hotel under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) arrangement, with ownership of the property reverting to the Yobe State Government after ten years.
Governor Buni urged members of the State Executive Council to remain committed to delivering the administration’s socio-economic development agenda, reaffirming his commitment to food security, infrastructure development, and inclusive economic growth across Yobe State.
