A group of stakeholders in Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State has petition the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in the state over the process used in selecting local government executives.
In a letter addressed to the Ogun State chairman of the party and copied to the national leadership, the stakeholders expressed dissatisfaction with the list submitted ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The petition, signed on behalf of the group by Chief Adetokunbo Wasiu, called for a review of the process, which they said did not reflect inclusiveness and due consultation among party members in the area.
The group urged the state leadership to consider conducting a fresh congress in Remo North, stressing that such a move would strengthen internal democracy and promote unity within the party.
They noted that Remo North remains a key political area with a growing voter population and increasing number of polling units, adding that fairness in party processes would enhance cohesion and improve electoral prospects.
The stakeholders also expressed confidence in the state leadership to address their concerns, stating that they had opted for dialogue rather than protest.
“We are assuring the party of our continued loyalty, while pleading with the state leadership to ensure fairness guides preparations for the 2027 elections,” the letter read.
They added that resolving the issues raised would reinforce trust among members and position the party for better performance in future elections
