The House of Representatives has disclosed that it introduced a total of 2,747 bills between June 2023 and June 15, 2026, with 363 of them successfully passed during the period.
The figures were unveiled on Monday during a media briefing by Hon. Francis Ejiroghene Waive and the House Spokesperson, Rep. Akin Rotimi Jr., as part of the activities marking the third legislative session of the 10th National Assembly.
According to the breakdown, the House introduced 1,351 bills during its first session, comprising 12 Executive Bills, 1,336 Private Member Bills, and three Senate Bills. Out of the total, 89 bills were passed.
In the second session, lawmakers introduced 912 bills, including 14 Executive Bills, 868 Private Member Bills, and 30 Senate Bills. A total of 148 bills were passed during the period.
The third session recorded 484 new bills, made up of 31 Executive Bills, 391 Private Member Bills, and 62 Senate Bills. The House passed 126 bills within the session.
The lawmakers also provided an analysis of the overall progression of bills since the inauguration of the 10th Assembly. Of the 2,747 bills introduced, 1,782 are awaiting second reading, 323 have been referred to standing committees, 185 are awaiting consideration, while five bills were negatived. Additionally, 89 bills were consolidated before consideration.
On legislative motions, the House said 220 motions were presented between June 2025 and June 2026. Of the figure, 192 were referred to committees, 28 were referred to ad hoc committees, while 121 were presented as matters of urgent public importance.
The House further disclosed that 48 public petitions were considered during the third legislative session, underscoring its oversight and public engagement responsibilities.
The leadership of the House said the figures reflect the legislative activities and productivity of the 10th House of Representatives, with Private Member Bills accounting for the overwhelming majority of proposed legislation introduced since June 2023.
