No fewer than 90 ad-hoc staff have been recruited and inaugurated by Jigawa Internal Revenue Services (JIRS) to serve as Road Tax enforcement Teams across the state exit points.
This was announced by the executive chairman of JIRS Malam Nasir Sabo Idris while inaugurating the teams on Saturday.
The chairman who said, the aims is to block the leakages in the road tax collection system, added that the action is taken to checkmate the existence of unauthorised road blocks by fraudulent persons.
According to him, the ad-hoc staff are expected to boost sales of road tax stickers by the state government and improve single haulage fees as well as to enforce compliance with the provision of Jigawa state Revenue law on road taxes.
“With this new development, we are to double road tax collection before the end of the year 2024.
“The teams will be visible in our borders between gaya and Dutse, gujungu-gumel road, gujungu-Jahun road; gujungu-Ringim road; gumel-maigatari road; Maigatari-Niger border; Kazaure-kano road; kazaure-daura road; birnin-kudu bauchi road; gwaram-darazo road and all other entry points considered strategic for road taxes collection.”
