No fewer than 400 new students in the Federal University of Dutse are yet to register, as the University matriculated 4,493 students for 2021/2022 academic session.
This was disclosed by the Vice chancellor of the university, professor Abdulkareem Sabo Muhammad while delivering his speech during the matriculation ceremony held at University premises on Thursday.
“In the session 2022/2023, a total number of 4,810 candidates were given admission, out of which 3,933 students registered out of the quota of 4,493”, he said.
Though the VC didn’t explain the reason why the remaining students fail to register but he said, the 2021/2022 combine admission is particularly challenging because of the large number of applicants received with only a limited quota to admit.
“Federal University Dutse received a total of 23,951 applications for admission in to various programs with only allowable admission quota of 4493 (19 percent) of the total applicants.
“On one of the Program that is popular with applicants is MBBS with 3,893 applicants for a quota of only 100 allowed by MDCN to be admitted. I must say that admissions in to federal University has became very competitive over the years.
“As a young University we have our set of rules and regulations that we guard jealously. You must also observe the dress code rules and avoid unnecessary travels. We provided basic facilities in your halls of residence for your comfort and relaxation and the Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs is always available to guide and support you to make your stay in the University comnfortable”, Professor Abdulkareem emphasis.
