Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has called for the immediate release of funds to equip security agencies with modern technology to curb insurgency attacks.
Ndume made this plea during his presentation, and the wake of a devastating attack on his hometown of Gwoza. The lawmaker expressed his deep concern and frustration over the recurrent terrorist incidents that have plagued the area.
He urged his colleagues in the Senate to support the allocation of necessary funds to procure state-of-the-art security equipment.
Sen. Ndume emphasized the critical need for advanced technology, stating that sophisticated gadgets are essential for security agencies to perform their duties effectively, comparable to their counterparts in other countries.
He highlighted the recent attack in Gwoza, which resulted in numerous deaths and injuries, as a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities that need to be addressed.
“We must empower our security forces with the best technology available to ensure they can protect our people and prevent further tragedies.” He stated.
The Senator’s motion received widespread backing from his fellow lawmakers, who echoed his sentiments and provided additional supportive opinions. The consensus among the senators indicate the urgency of addressing the security challenges in Borno and other affected areas.
Senator Ndume’s call to action is not only a response to the immediate crisis but also a proactive measure to safeguard the future.
The Gwoza bomb blast attack resulted in numerous deaths and left many others with various degrees of injuries.
As the Senate deliberates on this crucial issue, the hope is that swift action will be taken to provide the necessary resources to prevent further loss of life and restore peace to the Northeast region and the country.
