Senate Leader, Abdul Ahmed Ningi, Bauchi Central, Isa Yuguda, Bauchi South and Hon. Faruk Mustapha, Bauchi North were returned as the winners of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)Senate Primaries in Bauchi State thus becoming the party’s flag-bearers in the forth-coming general elections scheduled for February next year.
Ningi, while acknowledging cheers from some PDP stakeholders and well-wishers shortly after announcing his victory, said his decision to re-contest the seat he was occupying came barely six days to the primaries.
He explained that for the past two and half years he has been nursing a gubernatorial ambition ahead of the February 2015 election but for some PDP stakeholders in the North who were opposed to his governorship aspiration.
‘’Initially, I have for the past two and half years been expressing my aspiration for the governorship of Bauchi State whenIi observed that I was only loved and supported by some supporters in the state and opposed by some PDP caucus up North for my aspiration’’, he said.
The Senate Leader stated that he was forced to at the eleventh hour; re-contest his senate seat when he observed opposition against his aspiration for the governorship within and outside Bauchi State.
He hailed PDP stakeholders in his senatorial district, particularly the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, former SSG, Ahmed Ibrahim Dandija and a host of others through whose support he emerged victorious at the PDP Bauchi central district primaries for 2015 elections.
A number of 236 out of 247 delegates cast their votes for Abdul Ningi in the PDP senate primaries with 11 absentees in the election held at the Multi-purpose Indoor Hall, Bauchi.
The six-man panel that conducted the Bauchi central PDP senate primary election headed by Alhaji Shehu Mohammed commended those that facilitated towards the success of the primary election.
