The women of reproductive age in Jigawa state have decried unavailability of family planning commodities in most of the facilities across the state.
This complain was made by some of the women who attended the facilities to access the services when the media teams with support from TCI and Devcoms paid a visit to the facilities.
Speaking to journalists at Kafin Hausa health facility, Malama Nafisa Zakari Sallau expressed dismay on how she visited the facility for almost three times to access the family spacing service but it failed due to inadequate commodities in the centre.
“As I’m talking to you this is the third time I attended this facility to access the family spacing services but due to shortage of commodities, I am yet to get the services”
Another woman Lami Usman said, the availability of family planning commodities is not like before, as according to her, ten year back when she accessed the services for the first time, the demand of family planning commodities by the women was very low.
Mrs Hauwa Hamisu a service provider in Kiyawa PHC, related the shortage of family planning commodities to demand from the users.
According to her, the high demand may be unconnected to recent economic hardship.
