Sokoto Governor secures 2nd term ticket under APC

Delegates from across the 23 Local Government Areas of Sokoto state on Thursday affirmed Governor Ahmed Aliyu as the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
The APC National Election Committee headed by Alhaji Muhammadu Mukhtari Birnin, expressed satisfaction with the high sense of discipline,loyalty and decorum exhibited by the delegates.
Also, the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya, acknowledged the visionary leadership of Gov. Ahmed Aliyu under the wise counsel and fatherly support of the APC leader in the state, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko.
According to the APC Chairman, the party is also happy with the overwhelming support and prayers by the people of the state.
According to him, the governor’s sense of accountability has resulted in positive impact on the lives of citizens.
He also said that the Governor has restored the decayed infrastructure of the state, thereby giving hope to the people of the state.
Also speaking, Alhaji Muhammadu Mukhtar Birniwa, said that Gov. Ahmed’s performance has made him to earn a0nother ticket for the governorship.
Also speaking, Sen. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, thanked the people of the state for their sustained support to the governor and APC.
Sen. Wamakko, who was a former governor of the state, maintained that Gov. Ahmed Aliyu has not disappointed.
“He has done very well, he is doing very well and he will continue to do very well,” the Senator said, adding that the governor has remained indefatigable, humble, loyal, diligent, and “ready to take Sokoto State to more greater heights.”
Sen. Wamakko also acknowledged the tremendous support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the people and government of Sokoto State, as such people of the state would work to ensure the success of the President in 2027.
In his acceptance speech, Gov. Ahmed Aliyu hailed all party members described Sen. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as a father, leader, role model anf mentor.
According to Gov. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, it is heartwarming that the process has been seamless and orderly, acknowledging the diligence and fair play of the members of the National Electoral Commiteee deployed to the state.
He thanked the party’s leaders and members for ensuring his emergence as the candidate of the governorship party for the party for the second time.
Describing his affirmation as a call to duty, the Governor said that he is optimistic of his chances.
The governor said his decision to run for the second time was informed by his desire to consolidate the colossal achievements he has recorded from 2023 to date.
