Sokoto Hisbah bans mixed gender Sallah celebrations

From Bashir Rabe Mani in Sokoto
The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has announced a ban on Sallah celebrations held in venues where men and women mix without adherence to decency and Islamic guidelines.
The Board also prohibited the allocation of rooms to minors in hotels, and suspended the practice of offering “short time” services in hotels and guest houses across the state.
This was contained in a statement released today under its initiative titled “Operation Tsaftace Birnin Shehu.”
According to the statement, the measure is part of efforts to uphold moral discipline, protect Islamic values, and cleanse societal conduct, during the Sallah festivities.
The Board warned managers of relaxation centres and hotels to comply with the new directive, stating that action would be taken against anyone found violating the laid-down rules.
