The court has strike out a case of rape involving a 14 year old girl in Jigawa state as a result of failure from the victim and her parents to show up in the court due to fear of stigmatization.
This was confirmed by the Jigawa state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini while speaking to newsmen on the reasons why court stroke out three cases in the state.
The commissioner who expressed concern on the cases said, three criminal cases which involved armed robbery and rape cases were dismissed in two weeks by the state’s higher courts sitting in the state.
Barrister Bello Abdulkadir Fanini described the actions as a serious challenge to the general public who always stigmatizing the victims of rape.
