Tantalizers bets on entertainment, fisheries for future growth

The Chairman of Tantalizers Plc, Adam Nuru, has expressed confidence in the company’s future, saying its investments in the entertainment and fisheries sectors will diversify earnings and strengthen long-term profitability despite prevailing economic challenges.
Speaking at the company’s Annual General Meeting, Nuru said Tantalizers had repositioned itself through strategic acquisitions, placing it in a stronger position in 2026 than in previous years.
He said, “I’m more encouraged by the company’s prospects than at any point in recent years. The successful turnaround of our food business demonstrates the effectiveness of operational discipline and strategic focus.
“Our investments in entertainment and fisheries create entirely new avenues for growth and have the potential to significantly strengthen and diversify our earnings and profit over time.
“Although economic conditions remain uncertain and execution challenges remain, we believe that the company is substantially better positioned today than it was in 2025.
“Our strategy is clear. Our governance is strong. Our people are committed. And our determination to create long-term shareholder value remains unwavering.”
The chairman recalled that the company acquired Grand Media Projects Limited, a media and entertainment company founded by veteran filmmaker Tade Ogidan, in May 2025 before expanding further with the acquisition of Karflex Fisheries in 2026.
Following the acquisitions, Tantalizers established Tantainment Limited and Tantalizers Fisheries Limited as part of its strategy to diversify beyond its traditional quick-service restaurant business.
Nuru noted that the expansion came at a time businesses and households continued to grapple with the impact of the Federal Government’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, which have increased operating costs and weakened consumer purchasing power.
On the company’s financial performance, he attributed Tantalizers’ return to profitability to a deliberate focus on strengthening operational foundations, improving revenue generation, enhancing finance income and maintaining disciplined cost management.
According to him, the company recorded a turnover of N2.90bn in 2025 and a gross profit of N463.78m.
He added that Tantalizers posted a profit after tax of N73m in 2025, marking a significant recovery from the N265.59m net loss recorded in 2024, with operational excellence remaining a key priority for sustained growth.
