Taraba APC Moves to Reconcile Aggrieved Members Over Governorship Primary

The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated reconciliation committees across the state as the party seeks to resolve lingering grievances arising from its governorship primary election.

The move comes amid renewed pressure from supporters of former Minister of Transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, who have called for action on petitions challenging aspects of the party’s governorship primary.

Sambo contested the APC governorship primary but his camp subsequently raised concerns over the conduct and outcome of the exercise. Despite the grievances, the former minister has remained a member of the APC and has dismissed speculation that he may defect from the party.

His continued membership has heightened calls for the party leadership to address the outstanding complaints and reconcile the various factions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Party sources said the development has increased pressure on the Taraba APC leadership to resolve the disagreements and prevent internal divisions from affecting the party’s electoral prospects.

The issue also attracted wider attention following a recent visit to Taraba by the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who was in the state over the weekend to mark his birthday and meet with party stakeholders.

Sambo has repeatedly rejected reports of his planned defection, reaffirming his commitment to the APC, where he is regarded as one of its founding members.

Political observers have warned that failure to resolve the internal disagreements could weaken the party’s cohesion and undermine its electoral preparations in the state.

However, the Taraba APC Publicity Secretary, Aaron Artimas, said the party was committed to unity and reconciliation.

Artimas disclosed that reconciliation committees had been inaugurated on Monday across the three senatorial zones of the state to engage aggrieved members and address issues within the party.

He urged party members and other stakeholders to embrace dialogue and reconciliation, stressing that the APC intends to approach the forthcoming elections as a united political family.
