Taraba gov restates commitment for devt, press freedom

The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to development and press freedom.
He stated this when he received the national president of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ), Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo on Monday.
Kefas highlighted ongoing efforts to complete existing projects, foster unity among diverse religious communities, and implement a comprehensive development master plan for the state.
He emphasized his administration’s focus on uniting Taraba, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring media collaboration for transparency and accountability.
“We are focused on uniting Taraba, upgrading infrastructure, and ensuring that the press plays a key role in our development journey. My government is open to constructive criticism and welcomes collaboration with the media to ensure transparency and accountability,” he stated.
The governor also stressed the importance of free and compulsory education for long-term progress in the state.
Speaking earlier, Comrade Yahaya Alhassan, the NUJ national president praised the governor’s inclusion of journalists and acknowledged improvements in security, education, and infrastructure.
“The people of Taraba now move around freely, a clear sign of the improved security landscape under your leadership,” he said.
