Taraba govt commences vaccination of Human Papilloma virus for teenage girls

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has on Tuesday commenced a 5 days vaccination campaign against Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
Speaking at the flagg-off ceremony at Turaki A PHCC Jalingo, Dr Agbu said the target are teenage girls between the ages of 9 to 14 years in order to protect the viral infection capable of leading to cervical cancer and other related diseases.
Represented by the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Alkali said one dose of the vaccine confers life immunity against the Virus on the recipient.
He further appealed to parents, guardians, religious and community leaders to mobilize their female girls within the age bracket to use the five days window period of the campaign to get vaccinated.
Earlier in his addressed, the Taraba State Commissioner for health, Dr Bordiya Gbansheya, appreciated Governor Agbu Kefas in the area of health care service delivery for Taraba citizens and thanked the UNICEF, World Health Organization (WHO) and other development partners for their continuous support.
