Tata sponsors 600 weddings in Katsina

From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina A philanthropist in Katsina State, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Tata has sponsored the mass wedding of 600 couples in Funtua Senatorial zone in Katsina State. Presiding over the wedding ceremony at the Zaria Road Juma’at Mosque in Funtua, Tata noted that the marriage include 550 Muslim faithful’s and 50 Christians from across the 11 local governments in the state. He added that he took over the responsibilities of all the marriage requirements which include a N20, 000 bride price, marriage gifts and furniture’s for all the couples to enable them settle down. Tata disclosed that part of the criteria for selecting the beneficiaries include maturity, less privileged and having basic knowledge in Islam, adding that all those selected have fulfilled the requirements. He said that he took the initiatives as part of his contribution to support those in need of marriage but could not afford the financial burden and to help in reducing immorality in the society. Earlier in a remark, the state chairman of Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah, Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan has praised the initiative of sponsor of the mass wedding, calling on wealthy individuals to borrow a leaf from this initiative
