P
resident Bola Tinubu, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa on Wednesday met at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Obasa however declined comments after the closed door meeting as he departed the State House, via the alleyway.
Speaker Obasa had arrived the State House at about 2:50 pm and was led separately to the Presiden’s office, while his colleagues arrived earlier in two coaster buses that were driven through the foucourt route for the scheduleed closed door meeting.
Sources said the meeting was in connection with the recent leadership crisis in the State House of Assembly.
Emerging from Tinubu’s office at about 4:30pm, members of the delegation were heard chorusing the lyrics “on your mandate we shall stand.”
For about five minutes the lawmakers sang “on your mandate we shall stand,” a popular political lyric commonly used by supporters of President Tinubu to affirm their loyalty to him.
The song rent the air as they filed out towards the two coaster busses waiting for their departure from the foucourt area of the Presidential Villa.
Meanwhile, Obasa resisted proddings to speak to newsmen as he made his way out of the Presidential Villa. He was joined by James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives as well as a protocol officer.
Recall that Speaker Obasa was impeached by some of his colleagues but was latter reinstated on March 3, 2025 following the intervention of the political stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress and the Governing Advisory Council (GAC).
Despite the Speaker’s reinstatement, it was gathered that the bad blood as a result of his impeachment is yet to be over.
