The traditional ruler of Toto, Ohinoyi Ogye , His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Umar Azaki, and Chairman of Toto Local Government Area, Hon. Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, have appealed to Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada to facilitate the relocation of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, to Toto following its recent upgrade to a federal university.
The request was made during a strategic visit by the traditional ruler, who was accompanied by the council Chairman and members of the Toto Traditional Council, to Senator Wadada, who represents Nasarawa West Senatorial District.
According to a statement issued by the Toto Traditional Council on Sunday, the delegation presented a formal letter of request to the Senator, urging him to sponsor and champion the proposal before the Senate for legislative consideration.
Peoples Daily reports that the appeal followed the federal government’s decision to upgrade the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa to the Federal University of Mining and Engineering, creating an opportunity for the polytechnic to be relocated to another part of the state.
Responding, Senator Wadada thanked the delegation for the visit and assured them of his commitment to advancing the request through the appropriate legislative channels.
He pledged to present the proposal before the Senate and pursue it in line with due legislative process.
The Traditional Council said the move underscores the determination of the Toto traditional institution and the local government administration to attract federal institutions capable of boosting educational opportunities, stimulating economic activities, and accelerating development in the area.
The council also commended the leadership of the Ohinoyi Ogye and the council Chairman for what it described as a proactive initiative aimed at advancing the interests of the local government.
