A heartbreaking tragedy unfolded in Mar del Plata, Argentina, after a young journalist, Leticia Lembi, died on Wednesday, November 26, following an 80-foot fall from a cliff while trying to take photos at a well-known beauty spot.
Leticia, 33, was visiting Barranca de Los Lobos with family and friends when the incident occurred. According to local reports, she was standing on an old concrete platform connected to a deteriorating staircase leading down to the beach when she lost her balance and plunged roughly 25 meters onto the rocks below.

Emergency responders, including firefighters, police, and paramedics, rushed to the scene, but she was confirmed dead on arrival. Rescue teams said the fall was instantly fatal, and they had to work against the incoming tide to retrieve her body from the base of the cliff.

Prosecutor Carlos Russo, who visited the site, has described the case as an accidental death, according to El País.

What makes the tragedy even more painful is that Leticia had just shared joyful moments hours earlier. In an Instagram story posted the same day, she appeared smiling at Costa & Pampa, Argentina’s first ocean-side winery, jokingly captioning the photo: “Here, playing the wine woman.”

Leticia hailed from Tres Arroyos, about 170 miles from where the accident happened. She held a degree in Journalism and Social Communication from the National University of La Plata and had worked as a correspondent for La Voz del Pueblo in 2020. She also built a career as a digital marketer.
