The managements of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU),
Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) as well as National Association of Academic Technologists (NAA) of the University of Abuja have concluded arrangements to embark on internal strike over the underpayment of the staff salaries in the institution.
A source at the University who spoke to Peoples Daily on condition of anonymity, said the union leaders alongside the workers deemed it fit to go on strike due to the unpaid allowances and other issues affecting the workers in the university.
The source alleged that despite the full monthly allocation being given to the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Michael Adikwu by the Federal Government the workers had been underpaid of their salaries every month.
It was gathered that the Vice-Chancellor of the university had not been paying full salaries of the staff due to many workers recruited by him in the institution.
Meanwhile, a staff from the office of the Vice-Chancellor who did not want his name mentioned in print, said the staff salaries had been underpaid based on the monthly subventions received from the Federal Government.
