UniAbuja director of academic planning urges students to be law-abiding

The Director, Academic planning of the University of Abuja, Prof. Ishaya Dogwa, has urged fresh students to be law-abiding citizens throughout their stay in the university.
Dogwa made the call while speaking during the fourth orientation ceremony of new students which was held at the permanent site of the university.
He warned the students against cultism, examination malpractice and other social vices, advising them not to be distracted.
He charged the students to remain committed to their studies, admonishing them to put into practices the lessons of hard work, discipline and dedication which the university needs to move forward.
The Director assured the students that the management of the University would continue to provide the needed facilities in the institution.
Speaking earlier, the Dean student Affairs of the University, Prof. Peter E. Adakayi, pleaded with the students to deem it fit to read the handbook of the University given to them in order to know their rights so that they could not go against the University’s rules and regulations.
His words: “My dear students, University of Abuja is a place where you have so much freedom such as freedom of speech and interactions etc., however, you must play according to the rules”.
While fielding questions from the newsmen, Adakayi explained that the orientation programme was an annual event where the 100level students came together to be enlightened on the rudiments of the University life.
On her part, a staff in the University, Dr (Mrs) Aishat J. Egbunu, who represented the University’s Librarian, charged the students to always go to the library to read books always, and warned them against stealing library books.
Meanwhile, other staff of the University who spoke at the orientation programme, counseled the students to shun cultism, drug abuse and indecent dress etc.
