The Management and staff of Umar Suleiman College of Education, Gashu’a, Yobe state, commend the state Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni for allocating 179 bags of rice 50kg, as palliative to the students of the institution.
In a statement issued by the Dean Students Affairs, Umar Suleiman College of Education, Abdulwahab Yerima, said on behalf of the College’s Management, that the Students Affairs Division wishes to extend its profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Yobe State- Mai Malah Buni for the gesture.
He added that, “the College was given 179 bags of 50 kg of rice as palliatives for students that are domiciling in campus in order to ease their current economic hardship, through The Executive Secretary of Yobe State Scholarship Board, Dr. Abubakar Kagu and The Executive Secretary of State Emergency Management (SEMA) Dr. Mohammed Goje.”
He said, the palliatives were judiciously distributed to the eligible students by the Yobe State Students Union (NUYOSS) executives in the institution, under strict supervision of the Division of Students Affairs.
“The distribution was carried out in two phase in order to maintain equity and fairness due to the population of the students; the first phase was conducted on 12th March, 2024 when 50% of the students had received their packages, while after a week, the second phase was equally delivered to the other 50% on 20th March, 2024 along with the students who were not able to collect their own during the first phase.”
