The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) announces, with deep sorrow and a heavy heart, the passing of one of its esteemed Board of Administration Member, Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Sury. Sam Timothy.
Until his death, Sury. Timothy served as the Technical Representative on the Board of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, where he played a vital role in shaping policies and advancing the technical growth of volleyball in Nigeria.He was a seasoned administrator and a pillar in the development of the sport.
Mr. Timothy was also the Immediate Past Chairman of the Nigeria Volleyball Referee Association, where he championed professionalism, capacity building, and excellence in officiating. His leadership significantly elevated the standard of volleyball refereeing across the country.
On the international stage, he served with distinction as a Member of Zone 3 CAVB Referee Commission, representing Nigeria across Africa and globally. His contributions earned him recognition and respect within the international volleyball community.
Sury. Timothy’s demise is a monumental loss to the Nigeria Volleyball Federation, the entire volleyball family, and the global sports community. He was an accomplished referee and a mentor whose legacy will continue to inspire generations.
