Apparently basking in the euphoria of the victor of the party in the just held Edo state governorship election, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje has boasted that the party will still use the same template to win the forthcoming governorship elections in Ondo and Anambra states in November and in August 2025 respectively.
Ganduje spoke on Friday at the National Secretariat of the APC while formally closing down the party’s Situation Room which was set up to monitor the proceedings of the Edo state governorship election
He said that the party has done so well to convince the people of Edo to vote for the candidate of the party, hence their resolve to have voted and protected their vote.
Ganduje further said the APC had a very tough battle to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) because Governor Godwin Obaseki was a member of the party who also knows much about the party.
“We are happy to have won the election, it was a very difficult because Governor Obaseki you know was our member before he defected. It’s like a family feud where people that are related and know each other are fighting. He beat us once and we have succeeded in putting him down.
“Another thing that worked in our favour is that while he said the election was a do or die, we said no, it is do and succeed and going forward especially in the next election in Ondo in November and the Anambra state election in 2025, we are going to deploy the same template we used in Edo to ensure victory too.
“We will put value to our actions, we are already developing strategies on how to win Ondo, we are also working on our agenda to ensure that the South East gets into the ruling party, it is unacceptable the ruling party is controlling only two states in the South East.”
Earlier, the Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Nze Chidi Duru had attributed the party’s victory to the quality leadership style of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Ganduje.
