FUDMA Scholars Showcase Trailblazing Research Findings at Lagos Conference
Scholars from the Federal University Dutsin-Ma have showcased trailblazing research findings at this year’s Lagos Studies Association (LSA) Conference, an international and interdisciplinary forum of distinguished academics and non-academic practitioners, whose interest focus on Lagos, Nigeria, and Africa as a whole.
The scholars were led by the University’s branch Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Dahiru Rabe.
He said that the conference was the biggest academic gathering in Nigeria and one of the biggest in global African studies.
The 2026 session of the LSA featured 340 panels, indicating the rapid progress and acceptance of the association among scholars and experts in the continent.
He said that the LSA reflects the superlatively creative manner that scholars, especially the early and mid-career ones, are imagining knowledge in response to major shifts in Africa’s political, cultural, educational and socioeconomic landscapes.
“The LSA is expanding access and granting scholars and practitioners across the world, the opportunity to showcase their work for the benefit of humanity”.
“The diversity and expansiveness of panels to over 300 reflect the current landscape of knowledge about Lagos, Nigeria and Africa. Audiences will choose from 15 professional development workshops on book and journal publishing, women in academia, AI and teaching pedagogy, fellowship application and grant writing, and graduate school application and experience, among others.
“So far, the Conference featured dozens of panels on original paper presentations, offering new perspectives on a spectrum of fields and subfields. Roundtables on varieties of books that are at the cutting edge of scholarship in the humanities and social sciences, film screenings, theatre and dance performances”, he added.
According to him, the FUDMA team used the opportunity “to explore the rich gamut of intellectualism and render valuable contributions to contemporary scholarly discourse, symbiotic deliberation of insights with fellow academics and focused on FUDMA’s output on an international stage”.
Dr. Rabe also said they engaged actively in academic dialogue from Sunday, 14 to 16 June, 2026, while their research papers were presented on Tuesday, 16 June, 2026.
The team expressed gratitude to the University management for its support, which enabled them to attend the conference.
Other members of the FUDMA team that attended the LSA Conference are Dr. Muhammad Musa Yankara and Mr. Jamilu Kabir, both from the Hausa Department.
