Worried by the continues corruption and high level of the intake of substance (drugs) by the youth and women in the country, Women in Da’awah of Niger State have lamented over high rate of the menace of drug addict and corruption however called for a collective responsibility in curbing it.
This was made known at the weekend in Minna, at a 2- Days Capacity Building Workshop by the Niger State chapter of Women in Da’awah with the theme: “Addiction Prevention and Fighting Corruption” aimed at sensitizing the citizens on the consequences of the menace.
An Islamic Scholar, Muhammad Abubakar Maiwada Bida who lectured on a topic ‘Fighting Corruption the Islamic Perspective’ however regretted over the involvement of the clerics, ‘Imams, Pastors and Traditional leaders in the menace of corruption tendencies in Nigeria.
He explained that this has caused a lot of setback for the country hence the need for collective approach in reducing it to the barest minimal by telling selves the truth on the danger posed by the corruption menace.
He said that a situation where corruption and corrupt persons are being celebrated was rather very unfortunate and uncalled for which must be condemned in all ramifications.
The Niger State Coordinator of Women in Da’awah, Amirah Rabiyatu Danladi Makun in an interview said that corruption has eaten deep into the society and lamented over the drug addiction by the youths and women who were ignorance of its impacts of negative tendencies as well deteriorating live span of individual adductors.
She assured that the 25 local governments coordinators and representatives of all the tertiary institutions in the state will carry the message to the grassroots in Niger state to effectively reduce the menace of drug addiction and corruption in the society.
