Yafai to fight McDonnell for WBC International super-bantamweight title

Gamal Yafai will attempt to defend his WBC International super-bantamweight title against fellow Briton Gavin McDonnell in Sheffield on 3 March.
The fight is on the undercard of Kell Brook’s light-middleweight bout against Sergey Rabchenko at Sheffield Arena.
Yafai, 26, has won all 13 of his fights, while 31-year-old McDonnell has won 18 and lost one of his 21 bouts.
“I know I’m good enough for the big nights and this is certainly a big fight,” said Yafai.
“It’s experience against youth, but I bring something different to the table than what he’s seen.”
McDonnell lost on points to Mexican Rey Vargas when they met for the vacant WBC super-bantamweight title in Hull in February.
McDonnell said: “These domestic dust-ups are the type of fights which get the bit between your teeth.”
