Former Governor of Zamfara State and serving Senator, Senator Abdulazeez Yari has approved the distribution of 145 truckloads of maize and 42,000 bags of 10kg Semovita to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable households across the fourteen Local Government Areas of the state.
This was confirmed by the Chairman of the Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar Palliative Distribution Committee, Hon. Lawal M. Liman, PhD, at a meeting of the committee held in Gusau on Saturday.
Liman explained that the gesture was part of Senator Yari’s humanitarian intervention programme.
Each of Zamfara’s fourteen Local Government Areas, according to Dr Liman, will receive 10 truckloads of maize and 3,000 bags of Semovita.
The remaining trucks, he said, have been earmarked to strengthen the overall distribution exercise and ensure that assistance reaches communities most affected by hardship.
According to the statement, ‘The humanitarian intervention programme of the Former Governor of Zamfara State and Senator representing Zamfara West Senatorial District, Senator Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar, Marafan Sokoto, has reached another significant milestone, with more than 1.7 million beneficiaries recorded across Zamfara State over the past three years.
“As part of the latest phase of the programme, Senator Yari has approved the distribution of 145 truckloads of maize and 42,000 bags of 10kg Semovita to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and vulnerable households across the fourteen Local Government Areas of the state.
“Each of Zamfara’s fourteen Local Government Areas will receive 10 truckloads of maize and 3,000 bags of Semovita, while the remaining trucks have been earmarked to strengthen the overall distribution exercise and ensure that assistance reaches communities most affected by hardship.
” 210,000 residents across the state’s 147 political wards have been targeted in this latest phase of the intervention.
“The programme reflects Senator Yari’s longstanding commitment to supporting vulnerable families, particularly at a time when many households continue to face significant economic challenges.
“The initiative is part of a sustained humanitarian effort that has, over the past three years, provided food assistance, agricultural inputs and other relief materials to communities across Zamfara, benefiting more than 1.7 million people”.
He also called on the people of Zamfara State to continue to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Abdulaziz Yari, asking God to grant them wisdom and strength in addressing the country’s economic and security challenges, particularly the lingering insecurity affecting Northern Nigeria.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the distribution process remains transparent, fair and orderly, with all approved items delivered to their intended beneficiaries across the state.
