Each of the 243 households in Dadingel village in Gujba local government area of Yobe state got the sum of N50, 000 and building materials as assistance to rebuild their homes which were destroyed during Boko Haram insurgency.
Speaking during the official flag-off of the distribution of the materials and cash assistance, the state Deputy Governor, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, who represented the state Governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam stated that Gujba and Gulani were the most affected areas in the state that leads to the displacement of the community, loss of lives and properties.
He disclosed that out of the N50, 000 that each person would receive, N30, 000 would be given each person to start off the building work while the remaining N20, 000 would be provided as the work progresses, based on the assessment of the work by a monitoring and supervisory community set up by the state government to ensure that the it meets its objective of rehabilitating and improving the lives of the people.
He pointed out that now that peace has returned to the state and these affected areas, the state government in collaboration with other partners, assumed the responsibility of resettling, rebuilding and rehabilitation of areas affected so that people would resume their normal lives.
He stated that the state government has also provided materials and fund for the construction of a police outpost to provide security to the people as well as reconstruction of a mosque in the area, while the state government is making arrangement to construction schools, health and water facilities for the education, health service delivery and portable drinking water for the people.
Materials distributed include zinc, nails, ceiling boards, cement, wheel barrows, shovels, paints among others.
